Hey there, I'm Rick and I photograph weddings and portraits across Southern California. My work blends genres ranging from stylized editorial portraits to documentary, photojournalistic moments depending on what the moment calls for.
My process starts with finding the right canvas for the scene: good light, strong composition, and an environment that showcases the moment. Then I place you in it. If needed, I'll guide your posture and pose so you feel and look your best before stepping back and letting things happen naturally. Just be present and enjoy the moment, I got you.
I've been shooting professionally since 2018. I started out in content marketing and wedding video before pursuing photography fully. I'm steady, pay attention to details, and I genuinely care about making the whole experience awesome for you, not just the final photos. My editing styles are clean and natural: natural skin tones, true to color, elegant and timeless. I also love black and white photos and film when the moment calls for it.

About Rick Raasch
I'm Rick, a photographer and videographer based in Long Beach, California. I've been shooting weddings and family photos across Southern California since 2018.
Besides photography, another passion of mine is music and drumming. Growing up as a musician taught me how to listen before I play and support others. Drumming gave me rhythm, feel, a sense of when to lead, when to hang back, and how to support the people around me. And that carries into how I shoot. Also, I've recently gotten into cooking and love getting creative in the kitchen and learning new dishes.
Recently, I became a family man. My wife, our baby, and our dog are the best part of my life and a constant reminder that time moves fast.
I believe you were made in the image of God, and your story deserves to be told with authenticity, care, and joy. That's why I do this. Not just to make beautiful photos, but because the people in them matter.

Yes, and this is the part I'm most obsessive about.
I shoot with two cameras, each writing to two SD cards at once, so every photo exists twice before I leave your wedding. Cards go into a fireproof box and stay there until your gallery is delivered.
Once home, your files get importing onto my main ssd which gets automatically backed up to Backblaze archive cloud storage software and Dropbox so it’s saved in three places on two clouds.
I also never delete delivered RAW files.

To start the booking process, please reach out with your preferred date, location, and a brief description of what you’re hoping to capture. Once we’ve discussed your vision, I will send over a proposal and your date will be officially secured once the contract is signed and the retainer is paid.

Yes. For weddings and larger collections, split auto-pay is available through your client portal, so you're not hit with one large payment.

Always. I'm a notorious over-packer.
Two camera bodies, backup lenses, extra batteries, and more SD cards than any reasonable person needs.
I also carry full liability insurance, which most venues require anyway.

No because RAW files are like unbaked ingredients, not the finished meal.
What you get is a gallery of high resolution, fully edited images that represent my style and my standard. The editing is a real part of the work you're hiring me for, not a step between the shoot and the delivery.

Yes, but with restraint and intention.
Every delivered image is color corrected and finished by hand. On closer shots I'll clean up a blemish or remove a distraction. What I won't do is reshape you. The goal is refining the image, not altering the person in it.
Advanced retouching is available on request.

Absolutely. Your gallery includes a print store for professional prints, wall art, and albums.
Custom heirloom album design is available too, and it's something I do professionally for other studios, not just my own clients.
Your images deserve to live physically somewhere not just on a screen.

Yes. I'm based in Long Beach and work throughout Los Angeles, Orange County, and Riverside.
Travel is included within 60 miles of Long Beach, which covers most of Southern California. Beyond that it's $1 per mile, and for destination work I'll put together a flat quote. Tell me where and I'll tell you what it takes.
